Tarmac donates $8K to 2010 Suwannee River Youth Livestock Show and Fair

Press ReleaseApril 21, 2010

For the third consecutive year, Tarmac America has been a major contributor to the Suwannee River Youth Livestock Show and Fair, participating in the purchase of 15 animals at the 2010 event.

Since 2008, Tarmac has donated nearly $24,000 to buy livestock raised by kids from throughout the area.

This year’s tally included one fat steer, seven feeder steer and seven pigs from young people in FFA and 4H programs living in Bronson, Chiefland, Gulf Hammock, Trenton and Williston.

Jeff Harris, Plant Manager for the King Road Mine, said the Youth Livestock Show and Fair is one of many community events Tarmac supports each year.

“This event is so important to the community and reflects our company values by directing our resources to help young people,” said Harris. “It was even more important that Tarmac continue its support of the Fair this year with the present economy. This really is an event which we look forward to each year.”

In addition to the Suwannee River Youth Livestock Show and Fair, Tarmac is a major contributor to education in Levy County, sponsoring athletic programs, field trips and scholarships. Harris is a member of the Levy County Schools Education Foundation.
