Tarmac contributes nearly $8,000 to 2011 Suwanee River Fair

Press ReleaseMay 20, 2011

Tarmac America continued its o-going efforts to support area youth programs with its participation in the 2011 Suwanee River Youth Livestock Show and Fair. In all, Tarmac helped purchase livestock from 15 separate entries raised by young people from across the area, including Bronson, Cedar Key, Chiefland, Gulf Hammock, Morriston, Trenton and Williston.

This is the fourth year that Tarmac has participated in the annual event, and its total contributions to the Suwanee River Fair now exceed $32,000. This year’s tally included seven feeder steer, seven swine and one fat steer.

“Tarmac is proud of all of the programs we are able to support in Levy County, but we are especially pleased with our involvement in the Suwanee River Fair,” said Jeff Harris, Plant/Project Manager for Tarmac’s King Road Mine. “Programs that directly help students and the youth are what make this community strong, and we are proud to play a part in that.”

In addition to the Suwannee River Youth Livestock Show and Fair, Tarmac is a major contributor to education activities in Levy County, sponsoring athletic programs, field trips and scholarships. Harris is also a board member of the Levy County Schools Education Foundation.
