ABOUT TARMAC AMERICA
Since the 1980s, Tarmac has been a leading supplier of Florida construction materials. Tarmac employs about 1,000 people in its quarry, concrete-block, ready-mix concrete, sand and transportation facilities across the state. The Florida operations are based in Deerfield Beach.

Al Townsend, Director of Real Estate and Environmental Services
Al Townsend has extensive experience working in the construction materials and environmental regulatory sectors in Florida. Townsend began his career with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as part of a team responsible for reviewing permit requests. He has worked for more than two decades in the construction material supply industry, starting with the company that has evolved into present-day Tarmac America LLC, a Titan America business. During those years, he has been involved in every phase of limerock and sand mining operations, first working as the environmental manager, then moving into the permitting and development of new operations and the expansion of sand and limerock mines.
Jeff Harris, Plant Manager, King Road Mine — Send Jeff an email
Jeff Harris has been the Plant Manager for the King Road Mine since September 2007, and is key member of the quarry development team involved in the permitting process. He has 18 years of management and supervision experience in the mining industry including six years with Tarmac America. Prior to relocating to Levy County, Jeff worked as an Aggregates Production Manager at Tarmac America’s quarry in Medley, FL. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mining engineering from Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University).
Cindy Burns, Project Engineer
Cindy Burns has been actively involved in the permitting, studies and environmental aspects of the King Road Mine for the past three years. She has over 20 years of experience in Engineering and Law and has worked for Tarmac in its Deerfield Beach office since 2000. Prior to working for Tarmac, Cindy spent six years as a Civil/Environmental Engineer with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Cindy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado and a law degree from the University of Georgia.
